‘Kelleher got bored and told Van Dijk to give him some work’ – Liverpool fans react as Van Dijk made an great ‘assist’ for his friend Kevin de Bruyne

With his rash action at the conclusion of the Liverpool vs. Man City game, Virgil van Dijk chose to add some spice.

He attempted to outwit De Bruyne, but Caoimhin Kelleher corrected his error.

Fans joked that Kelleher asked Virgil to do that because he got bored.

@AnythingLFC_: “Virgil Van Dijk owes Kelleher a pint after the game!”

@emzedLFC: “Kelleher got bored and told Van Dijk to give him some work.”

@cherry_lfc: “Van Dijk just made that mistake on purpose so that Kelleher can get his moment.”

@hasabibilal: “Van Dijk gave the ball to De Bruyne to see if they can score past Kelleher what a fucking aura.”

@GregCarterSport: “Kelleher has just absolutely BAILED van Djik out there.”

@SamieJxx: “Van Dijk thought Kelleher was bored so gave him something to do, all good.”

But Van Dijk, who’s tasted heartache in title races before, knows that nothing is won at this time of year. “Good game. We won and we move on,” the Dutch defender told Sky Sports post-match.

“We focus on the next game. That’s the only thing we can do. There’s no point at this stage of the season to get ahead of ourselves. Of course everybody wants to be in a position where they are 11 points ahead of their opponents. But there’s so many twists and turns. We have injuries to our team unfortunately and we have to deal with that.”
